Applying for a Visa
To make things simpler, we’ve broken down the two main methods of obtaining a Tanzanian visa. Below, we highlight the pros and cons of each method to help you decide which one suits you best.

Tanzania Visa: How Much Does It Cost?

To travel to Tanzania, a visa is required.

  • For British citizens: The fee is £40 if applied in advance.
  • In Tanzania: The cost is $50 or €50. Interestingly, €50 is worth more than $50, so bringing dollars will save you money.
  • For US citizens: You’ll need a multiple-entry visa, which costs $100.

Online Application

You can apply for a Tanzanian visa online via the official government link: Tanzania eVisa Service.

Note: Since January 2, 2020, visas can no longer be obtained through embassies.

Visa Upon Arrival in Tanzania

If you choose to apply locally, you can do so at specific counters upon arriving at Tanzanian airports.

  • The process is straightforward, but the waiting time depends on airport traffic.
  • During high season, queues can take an hour or more.

If you’re traveling during peak times or with children, the wait can be inconvenient, so plan accordingly.

Our Advice
To save time and reduce stress, apply online before your trip. This is especially important during high season when airport queues may be longer.

Additionally:

  • If only one parent is traveling with a child, the other parent must provide written consent in English. Ensure you prepare this document well in advance.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. Double-check its expiry date before starting your application.

At Crowned Wild Africa, we include all the essential information in your trip preparation pack to make your journey seamless.

In Summary

  • Online Application: Ideal for avoiding delays at the airport.
  • Visa Upon Arrival: Convenient, but be prepared for potential waiting times.

Either way, Crowned Wild Africa ensures you’re well-informed to make the best choice for your travel needs.

Be safe, plan ahead, and apply for your Tanzania visa online!
